School UniformsTo help create an environment conducive to learning, students at Ahwatukee Foothills Prep are required to wear simple uniforms. This policy is designed to permit students to focus their attentions on academics and on those aspects of their personalities that are truly important. The School uniform consists of the following: BottomsBoys may wear beige long or short pants, and girls may wear beige long pants, knee-length skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers. Skirts, shorts, and dresses must be able to pass the finger length test. Standing with your hands at your side, the item must be longer than your fingertips. These items may be purchased at most department stores or clothing outlets. Floor-length skirts and baggy or wide-legged pants or allowing pants to sag are not permitted. Denim and corduroy are not allowed. TopsBoth girls and boys wear navy blue polo shirts. Shirts must be tucked in and clean. Navy blue sweatshirts may be worn in cool weather. Jackets of any kind may not be worn in the classroom. ShoesStudents are required to wear black or brown closed-toe shoes without logos or stripes. Totally black tennis shoes are permitted. Colored stripes, logos, or printing of any kind must be black or colored black on tennis shoes. High-heeled shoes and open-toe sandals or open heeled shoes are not permitted. Socks and BeltsStudents may wear navy blue or white crew, ribbed, or knee-high socks without stripes or logos. Students must wear a belt if there are belt loops on their pants, skorts, or skirts. Belts may not have any design or color other than brown, blue or black. Belts with our school logo are permitted and must be purchased from our own uniform distributor. JewelryStudents may not wear anything around their necks, except for items worn inside their shirts, invisible to anyone else. Students may wear simple stud earrings only that do not hang from the ear. Hoop earrings of any size are NOT allowed. Nose rings, eyebrow rings, lip rings, tongue rings are not allowed. Noticeable make-up, including nail polish, is not permitted. One ring per hand is allowed. One bracelet per wrist is allowed. One earring per ear is allowed. HairStudents must keep their hair neat and out of their eyes. Students may not wear drastic or unnatural hair colors or styles, e.g., shaved to show letters, numbers, or designs. The CAO has discretion as to what is acceptable. |
